Abstract

While a lot of research studied the effectiveness of Wikis on literacy development, prevalently in higher education, little research was done on promoting collaboration through Wikis in a primary setting and the impacts of teacher intervention on students' collaboration. This paper studies the interactions of an online group project using Wikis amongst 30 students and 4 teachers in a Hong Kong international school. Online questionnaire and group interviews were used to collect qualitative and quantitative data concerning 5 factors: learning and pedagogy, motivation, interaction, technology and social factor. The results bring insight to pedagogies of appropriate teacher intervention to promote student collaboration in Wiki environment.
